Brew Chat returns with a deep dive into one of the most revered disciplines in craft brewing: barrel aging.
On March 27 at 6:00 PM at 49th State Brewing @ The Rail, Innovation Brewer Rafael Gonzalez Mosqueda, head of our Liquid Lab and barrel-aged program, will guide guests through an immersive, one-hour exploration of the science, technique, and artistry behind exceptional barrel-aged beer.
Guests will taste a curated lineup of barrel-aged selections from our cellar, learn how we approach barrel sourcing, spirit selection, maturation timelines, blending strategy, and quality control, and gain insight into the best practices that separate average barrel programs from elite ones. The experience concludes with a full glass of your favorite featured beer and an informal Q&A with Rafael.
49th State Brewing’s barrel program is anchored by our highly regarded Cache Collection portfolio that showcases layered, spirit-influenced complexity and deliberate maturation. Our commitment to precision and innovation has earned us accolades across multiple styles, including award recognition for our barleywines and winter warmers, as well as the distinction of Champion Medium-Sized International Brewery at the 2025 Australian International Beer Awards.
Barrel aging is patience, chemistry, sensory discipline, and controlled risk. If you want to understand how world-class barrel programs are built from wood to glass this is your opportunity to learn directly from the team leading ours.
$10 admission includes guided tasting and one full pour.
This is a limited, insider-level session designed for serious beer enthusiasts and curious minds alike.
